New Features for Creating Your Own Website
Although AB Publish is relatively new, we are still actively updating the control panel that lets you create your own website for your business. The message I would like to get across is not only are we continuing to improve and enhance our user interface, we actively encourage our users to contact us with their own ideas as to how to make things better.
There is no getting away from it. The interface has necessarily been designed by technical people and we just do not think in the same way as someone who concentrates on their business and does not really care how a website works technically. Much in the same way as I know how to drive my car but its inner workings are a complete mystery to me.
However, I would be able to tell the car manufacturer what changes I would like to be made. And we are inviting you to do the same. If you are updating your website and you are thinking to yourself "I wish it worked this way" then please do tell us. Not only will we listen to you we are very keen to know what features you would like and how you feel the existing features could be improved for you.
Here is a summary of some recent changes and also some changes on the way very shortly:
1. Fading images of many sizes
The unique fading image effect has proven to be very popular with our customers. it is a nice subtle effect that brings movement to the page in a very stylish way without being too flashy. Previously, the images all had to be of the same proportions but we have now changed this so that different sizes and orientations can be used in the same group of images and this works extremely well.
2. Create yor lown logo/title
Whilst we recommend that you upload an image created by you or your printer, we have now added a facility where you can add a logo using a range of colours and fonts to get the look that you want. It defaults to the name of your business but you can change this to anything you want.
3. More ecommerce features
You can now add products, each one with its own web page but you do not pay by the page. This means a very cost effective way of increasing the size and improving the function of your website. Products can be bought using PayPal and/or Google. We will soon be adding a fully functioning shopping cart and links to other payment providers such as NoChex and SagePay.
4. New WYSIWYG interface
Now there is an old fashioned term! What You See Is What You Get. Within the next few weeks, we will be introducing a facility that allows you to edit each item on page. This should make the updating of your website much more intuitive. This is currently in development and once ready, will be made instantly available to all AB Publish customers.
And more to come...
That is just a summary of the headline changes. Many more changes go on in the background and don't forget, you can be part of this by recommending the changes you would like to see.
