Making it Easy to Create a Website
The objective of AB Publish is to offer a method whereby business owners can easily create a srtylish looking website without needing to learn the skills required to code a site nor to learn a complicated interface that will take many hours with which to familiarise yourself.
The good news for me is that early feedback has been extremely positive. Our interface to create a website has been well received and I have been told that it truly is easy to use. Despite this, it has also become apparent that it is not always obvious to users how certain things can be done.
I want the website creation control panel to be very easy to use but I also want to give my customers as many options as possible to allow them to make their website their own. In doing so, it is inevitable that some options will become obscured in the big and growing list of options available.
So how do I overcome this dilemma? How do I offer many options whilst at the same time making it easy for customers to find what they are looking for.
I think there are two answers to this:
1. Offer Multiple Routes to Each Option
Some people may expect to update an item by searching the menu on the left, some may expect it to be associated with the page control panel and others might expect it to be elsewhere. So my mission is to make it available in all these places.
For example, if you want to update the logo on your website it may not be obvious where this is. However, there is nothing stopping me making this option available in several places in the website control panel. And that is exactly what I plan to do!
2. Listen to Feedback
So far, most of the feedback is being offered by friends of mine (who are brutally honest fortunately). If I constantly tweak and change the website update control panel following feedback from my friends, I am sure that what is already easy to use will become easier.
And that brings me to my final point. I want honest feedback form all my customers. If you are updating your own website and think to yourself "I wish I could do this" or "I wish I could do it this way instead" then let us know. We welcome feedback and are very keen to design the interface for creation of websites around you.
So don't wait, let us know!
